
International Conference on Business and Technology 2025 Kicks Off in Dhaka
A major international event, the International Conference on Business and Technology (ICBT) 2025, commenced on Saturday at the University of Asia Pacific (UAP) campus. The conference is a collaborative effort between UAP, the Faculty of Business Studies at Dhaka University, and the OTH Amberg-Weiden university from Germany. Organized under the theme "Business-Technology Nexus for Achieving Sustainable Development," the two-day event will conclude on Sunday, with discussions centered around how the integration of business and technology can address pressing global challenges.
Over 250 participants from various countries have gathered to engage in this academic exchange, where more than 100 research papers will be presented. The agenda includes a range of activities such as keynote speeches, interactive sessions, and panel discussions. These sessions aim to foster dialogue among experts, researchers, and professionals about innovative solutions for economic, environmental, and social development.
The conference was officially inaugurated by Planning Adviser Dr Wahiduddin Mahmud, who emphasized the importance of such platforms in facilitating knowledge exchange among academics, professionals, and policymakers. He highlighted that these interactions are crucial for advancing sustainable development efforts.
At the opening ceremony, several distinguished guests were present, including UAP Trustee Board Chairperson Architect Mahbuba Hoque, UAP Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Kamrul Ahsan, and DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Prof Dr Mamun Ahmed. Each of them expressed their support for the initiative and underscored the significance of collaboration in driving academic and technological progress.
Architect Mahbuba Hoque praised UAP's dedication to maintaining high standards of academic excellence, innovation, and global engagement. Prof Dr Kamrul Ahsan noted that the conference aligns with UAP’s mission to promote higher education and research. Meanwhile, Prof Dr Mamun Ahmed emphasized the value of inter-university cooperation in fostering a culture of shared learning and innovation.
The conference is being co-chaired by Prof Dr M.A. Baki Khalili from UAP, Dr Christiane Hellbach from OTH Amberg-Weiden, and Prof Dr Mahmud Osman Imam from Dhaka University. Their leadership ensures a balanced representation of perspectives from different regions and disciplines.
Prof Dr S.R. Osmani from Ulster University in the UK delivered the keynote speech, offering valuable insights into the role of business and technology in achieving sustainable development. His presentation provided a thought-provoking foundation for the discussions that followed.
As the inaugural session came to a close, guests were honored with crests, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Sarwar Razzak Chowdhury, Head of the UAP Business Administration Department. This event marks an important milestone in the ongoing dialogue between academia and industry, aiming to shape future strategies for sustainable growth through the power of technology and business.
